Nursery provides a loving atmosphere for babies through age three (depending on maturity). Our goal is to provide a peaceful, nurturing experience for the little ones, their parents and our Nursery Angel volunteers. Parents sign their children in and out. We have a system for notifying parents if their little ones need their parents during the service.
Preschool provides a wonderful experience of joy and divine order. These children are learning independence and exploration, so we encourage this through free play, outdoor play garden adventures, storybook time, snack time, a short lesson, a quickie meditation, and a closing circle with "Let There Be Peace on Earth." Cleanup and helping others are wonderful spiritual lessons that we also encourage.
Kindergarten and First Grade; Second and Third Grade; and Fourth and Fifth Grade classes follow this structure:
Uniteens, the sixth through eighth graders ages 11 to 14, have leaders instead of teachers. They are encouraged to share their thoughts and feelings, such as sharing high and low points of the previous week.
There are two weekend retreats for Uniteens annually. All active Uniteens in the Southeast region are invited to attend this weekend bonding adventure with other area teens. To attend, the teens must complete paperwork, which includes a heart agreement; provide service hours; and participate in a fundraiser to help cover the cost of the retreat. Uniteens may satisfy the requirement for service by participating in a community event, such as an annual coastal cleanup, or by visiting a retirement center or helping at a shelter, for example. Weekend sleepovers, referred to as “lock-ins,” may be planned at our church or at a local church with a goal of connecting for fun and spiritual growth.
Y.O.U. Youth of Unity, the ninth through twelfth graders ages 14-18, have sponsors instead of leaders or teachers. The sponsors' role is to guide, coach and facilitate spiritual self-discovery within the group and the group leaders, who are teens. Teen officers are selected for the ministries of prayer, prosperity, service & communication. The officers team up with the other members of the group to lead the lessons each Sunday. The goal is to give ownership and empowerment to the YOU leaders/officers in decision-making, ministering to each other, and responsibility for their own spiritual growth.
Every Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 pm, interested and available Y.O.U.ers gather for a more fluid sharing of ideas and life experiences. They have reserved the second Wednesday evening for their monthly birthday celebration with the children at a local CASA( Community Action Stops Abuse) shelter. Our Y.O.U.ers take pizza, birthday cake and a caring smile to share with the children at CASA.
Retreats and rallies occur four times each year for eligible Y.O.U.ers. There are spring and fall weekend Southeast regional rallies in central Florida; a week-long summer “connection” in North Carolina; and a week-long summer international conference at Unity Village. Paperwork, Y.O.U. group attendance, service, and fundraising are requirements for attending these events.
