Volunteer/Employment
If you are looking to get more involved, there is no better place than volunteering. Your level of involvement is up to you-we appreciate each and every one of our volunteers. Without you we would not be able to do all that we can for our congregation, our church and our community.
Browse the different teams above to learn more about specific roles in that area. Pick one that interests you to start the process.
Click ‘I'll Try It!’ and someone from that team will contact you with the rest of the details.
If, after trying it, you love it and feel energized about serving in that capacity we will gladly sign you up. But if you decide that particular area is not what jazzes you, then you are free to try something else until we find the spot where you are excited to be serving!
The Chaplain Ministry holds sacred space for the church community and in that sacred space, lovingly listens, prays and holds the strictest of confidence. Specific training is required. Unity chaplains make a one-year commitment in fulfilling their responsibilities. These responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Unlike hospital chaplains, Unity chaplains are not ordained and are not trained to counsel people. Unity chaplains are trained to do three things only: hold spiritual space, listen, and pray. Unity chaplains are not trained to go out and "minister" to the community at large, but are trained as a lay resource to help meet the pastoral care needs in our Unity community.

Reaching into the community to impact people’s lives is an important part of our lives. Helping others shine their light is an honor.
Our outreach teams fall under our CommUniteam. CommUniteam means building our community at First Unity, helping people connect with each other from the moment they have contact with our church to actively volunteering in any of our many ministries.
We believe that active volunteering, tithing time and talent, is an essential step on the journey of spiritual awakening and growth. Events and projects of CommUniteam are wide-ranging, from small to big to huge. It can mean helping families, connecting with people that are down and need the healing we offer, or maybe it’s a project to bring peace and love as a solution to problems faced by our city.
