"Canned/Boxed" Food Drive
Sundays, February 5, 12 & 19  Sanctuary Lobby / Friendship Hall
Our teens at First Unity are sponsoring a Food Drive. The food that we collect will be donated to local food banks who help feed the homeless and those in need as well as a local shelter.  Most of these food banks and shelters are currently very low on food items due to the tremendous needs over the holidays.  Please bring in any nonperishable foods and place them in the containers in the lobby of our Sanctuary and Friendship Hall.

Alateen Meetings
Begin Monday, February 6
5 – 6 pm | Room #400

Alateen is a meeting for youths affected by someone else's drinking.  This is not a meeting for youths who are experimenting with or using alcohol or drugs on a regular basis.  Two certified Alateen Sponsors sanctioned by the Al-Anon World Service Office facilitate the meeting.  Parents and other adults are not allowed.  The meeting is open to young people ages 9 (if mature enough) to 18.  For questions about this Alateen meeting - the only one in St. Petersburg - please contact Laurie at (727) 954-3607. YFM Children’s Lock-in
Friday & Saturday, February 17 & 18

Youth & Family Ministry (YFM) is sponsoring a Lock-In for any children who are 10 years of age and younger.  We will have special entertainment (for all kids whether spending the night or not) on the 17th (Friday) after a potluck dinner.  We will then provide a sleep over for those children who are old enough to sleep away from home by themselves or with their parents if still too young.  Please contact Steven Krugler at 727-527-2222 X109 for more information.

Welcome to the “Enchanted Garden” (our Nursery) where our loving and caring staff provide a peaceful, safe and nurturing experience for the little ones. Parents sign their children in and out. We also have a ‘pager’ system for notifying parents if their little ones need their parents during the service. “Our Nursery is open and staffed at both the 9:30 and 11:30 am services.”

Preschool provides a wonderful experience of joy and divine order.  These children are learning independence, exploration and spiritual principles through free play, a short lesson, storybook time, a quickie meditation, Love Offering, a craft related to the lesson and a closing circle with the Peace Song and Prayer for Protection.“Our Nursery is open and staffed at both the 9:30 and 11:30 am services.”

Kindergarten and First Grade; Second and Third Grade; and Fourth and Fifth Grade classes follow this structure:

  1. Welcome parents & children
  2. A pre-session art project such as drawing, coloring, and/or a word game
  3. Review the "Heart Agreement," which encompasses classroom rules agreed upon and signed by students
  4. Children’s church, which includes:
    • Gather together in a circle by the altar
    • Light the Christ candle
    • Read the Daily Word or ask child/children to read it
    • Meditate
    • Present the lesson
    • Prayer
    • Collect and bless the offering
    • Facilitate creative expression related to the lesson: crafts, drama, or movement
    • Straighten up and put supplies away
    • Sing the Peace Song
    • Close with The Prayer of Protection: The light of God surrounds us. The love of God enfolds us. The power of God protects us. The presence of God watches over us. Wherever we are, God is, and all is well.
  5. During the 9:30 am service the Kindergarten through 5th grade classes are combined
  6. During the 11:30 am service the Kindergarten through 5th grade classes are divided into 3 separate rooms
