Preschool provides a wonderful experience of joy and divine order. These children are learning independence and exploration, so we encourage this through free play, outdoor play garden adventures, storybook time, snack time, a short lesson, a quickie meditation, and a closing circle with "Let There Be Peace on Earth." Cleanup and helping others are wonderful spiritual lessons that we also encourage.
Kindergarten and First Grade; Second and Third Grade; and Fourth and Fifth Grade classes follow this structure:
- Welcome parents & children
- A pre-session art project such as drawing, coloring, and/or a word game
- Review the "Heart Agreement," which encompasses classroom rules agreed upon and signed by students
- Children’s church, which includes:
- Gather together in a circle by the altar
- Light the Christ candle
- Read the Daily Word or ask child/children to read it
- Meditate
- Present the lesson
- Prayer
- Collect and bless the offering
- Facilitate creative expression related to the lesson: crafts, drama, or movement
- Straighten up and put supplies away
- Sing Let There Be Peace on Earth
- Close with The Prayer of Protection: The light of God surrounds us. The love of God enfolds us. The power of God protects us. Wherever we are, God is, and all is well.
