Fall in love with Balalaika! You may ask, WHAT is the Balalaika?

It’s a three stringed, triangular Russian instrument that in a Master’s hands is astonishing! Hear the multiple award winning masters of Balalaika LIVE at First Unity Spiritual Campus.

The balalaika is the three-stringed traditional Russian instrument, which in a master’s hands has an astonishing sound! Such is the case with Ensemble LAD, the multiple award-winning masters of balalaika, and crowd favorites on Russian television, at clubs and festivals. They come directly to the First Unity Spiritual Campus from Moscow! Equally talented Russian sensation (and now Tampa Bay’s own) elegant vocalist Elona Krasavtseva fronts the LAD Ensemble, working her ethereal soprano magic. Together, the LAD Ensemble and Krasavtseva perform a variety of music – from Bach, Paganini, and Villa-Lobos, to modern-day and famous film soundtracks that will make you fall in love with Balalaika.

Ensemble LAD
Alexander Sunyaykin (Bayan, vocals)
Andrei Matveev (Balalaika-prima, vocals)
Vladimir Nesterenko (Domra alto, vocals)

She is a graduate of Lomonosov Moscow State University, where she studied Russian and European folklore. Elona performed in Australia, Canada, UK, Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Ukraine. Elona now resides in Tampa Bay and is a founder of Music and Poetry Club of Florida.

Ensemble LAD was created in 1997 by graduates of Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatory. They won several Russian national music awards and became finalists on the TV show “Minute of Fame”. The ensemble performed at philharmonic concert venues in 15 regions of Russia, as well as in Moscow clubs and open-air festivals.
